Parish Pantry
With donations of food from our community, Holy Spirit is able to help those who face food insecurities, whether from our own congregation or those in the neighbourhood.
The parish pantry is a cuboard filled with non perishable items. Those in need are able to come and get a bag of food to help them out. This is especially helpful to some of our unhoused friends as ID and an address are required to receive hampers from the Edmonton Food Bank. Donations of used/new backpacks are also very helpful.
Donation of items are always needed and can be dropped at the church on Sunday mornings or during the week during office hours.
Items needed are: cereal, juice (boxes or 1 litre), jam, honey, peanut butter, canned fruit, canned meat, canned vegetables, instant coffee, small bags sugar or flour, toothbrushes, toothpaste, disposable razors, granola bars, noodle bowls, hot chocolate.
We also accept items of clothing: underwear (men's or ladies size m), socks, gently used or new t-shirts, hoodies, sweat pants, coats, shoes. In winter time: coats, mitts, hats, boots.
Edmonton Food Bank Depot
Holy Spirit is an Edmonton Food Bank Depot every Tuesday.
Clients register with the Edmonton Food Bank, who then pack a food hamper for the clients and deliver to Holy Spirit for pick up by the clients on their assigned date. Clients are able to get a hamper once a month.
Holy Spirit provides the space and volunteers who greet the clients and help them as needed.
Currently Holy Spirit distributes 25 hampers per week for the Edmonton Food Bank (about 100 families per month)
Volunteers are always welcome. Shifts are Tuesdays once a month from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. Contact Carola U or the church office for more information on volunteering.
Donations of food items are always welcome. The Edmonton Food Bank donation box is located across from the gym doors.
